The date is June 15th 2020, and this day will mark the first blog post of Plan On F.I.R.E.
It is also a significant day for me personally, as I have just entered into a 3 year fixed mortgage deal on my property, which by the end of the deal if all goes to plan, I will be mortgage-free at the age of 30.
One of the main goals for this blog is to document my progress over the next 3 year period, following life’s twists and turns towards my goal of being mortgage-free and eventually, financially free. As part of that goal, I plan to provide breakdown’s of my financial situation, detail ways to help you save money, provide my own opinions and thoughts on what to do and not to do for all things finance, discuss current events and update you on things happening in my personal life.
Another goal of the blog is to pursue my passion for Personal Finance. For the last few years, I have been following countless blogs, all covering similar aspects of personal finance and the road to FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early). My personal favourites are Mr Money Moustache, 1500 Days and The Humble Penny however there are many other great blogs out there. Following their journey’s has given me the desire and motivation to try and do something similar myself, however, I will be writing from a different perspective which will hopefully resonate with people who may come across this blog.
So, a little about me. As I write this post I am 27 years old, currently working as a Fibre Planner for a telecoms company based in the UK, and living in a 3-bed semi-detached house with my fiancée and our mischievous cat. We live quite frugally, making sure we spend far less than we make. I drive a 2015 Hyundai i30 which I have owned for approximately 2 years, and my partner has a 2013 Toyota Yaris, both bought used and paid for in cash. I plan on writing individual blog posts about my career, housing situation and car history, so if you’re interested to know more, look out for future posts.
My initial goal in regards to the blog is to try and post at least once a week, however, this may change as I work full-time and as I’m sure your aware, life gets in the way sometimes. For anyone who may come across my blog, I would love for you to leave a comment and share your own goals and aspirations, and also to give me advice on what works and what doesn’t. I consider myself a complete novice when it comes to writing and blogging, therefore I’m hoping as time goes by, the quality will steadily increase… however I can make no guarantees on that.
What I will guarantee though, is to reply to anyone who does get in touch or leaves a comment, as I have always found the FIRE community to be one of the most positive and uplifting groups on the internet, and I would love for that to spill over into my blog too.
Thanks to anyone who has got this far. If you could Like and Share this post I would be most grateful, and feel free to Follow the blog for many more posts along my journey to F.I.R.E.
